My research on a video project leads me to find a very touching and inspiring work of an artist. The message made a big impact and delved to my inner self. It teaches me how to value and appreciate life. It touched me with its sincerity of execution through his canvas. Obviously, there is social cancer that has been prevailing around us that we simply deny to ourselves that it exist and get blinded by the reality of it. We see all these kind of situations everywhere and immediate action is salient. But where do we start from here?

Through Joey Velasco's work, I saw the true picture of our society. The depressing sights that linger around and continue to cause grief and sorrows that is vividly defined as Poverty. It is precisely depicted on his obra, "The Last Supper" where it integrates social relevance by putting street children instead of apostles with Jesus. These children has a "colorful" stories of their own.

He made a difference by sharing his talents and come up with this video to share his work and social campaign. I am proud of his work so to speak. It is a successful "video virals" for any commercial site with same relevance and worth for commendation.

What is important , he had made his point and had delivered his message clearly and powerful. I just can't imagine, that such video campaign should come from an ordinary painter and not to our elected politicians who had so many promises for our country.

Joey Velasco used this medium to enlighten us. How I wish I could also do the same work similar to this video. Try to reflect, as you watch it 'coz if you do, you can understand your own value. Allow me to share his work through this blog.

we watched this documentary film in our Religion Education class. it made a big impact in our selvesa s we watch it and we were very touched and moved; some of us were ashamed of ourselves, saddened, and conscience interrupted. it opened us more in reality on what we are trying to pursue in our profession. this leaves me numerous unwavering questions of - anong pagkain ang masarap para sa kanila?may pagkakataon pa ba silang isipin ito sa naghihingalo nilang sikmura?ano ang lasa ng matamis, maalat, mapait, pangit at masarap, pareho pa ba sa atin? di kaya'y makalamon lang, wala ng usapan.Gaano ba kabusog ang katagang busog para sa kanila kung hikahos silang makakain ng isang kutsarang kanin sa isang araw?ano ba ang lasa ng bawat pagnguya nila?may lasa pa ba?
if people had watched this for real and is knowing the reality, they won't bother to think that if Jesus exist, they would be saved, because He is with us. we have the capacity to help them

It's good and all. It's just that I feel that the narrator is pitying himself too much, thinking of himself as some kind of selfish criminal.

I agree with most of the world being dirt poor, but I just can't stomach it when "PersonA" says he's greedy when "PersonB" fell into poverty because of HIS OWN FAULT.

I, for one, am disgusted by that girl who got pregnant at the age of 14-15. It's her fault she's living under a bridge, because she CAN'T CONTAIN HER HEAT. Likewise with some, not all, other squatters who can't rise above poverty because they PLAY MAHJONG EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and smoke CIGARETTES like a V8 engine.

Again, not all poor people are sloths, it's just unfair to treat every single one of them like they're some kind of separate race who are "morally above" middle-class people who are seen as "selfish" and "greedy."

That's his assessment of himself I guess. And I think the narrator (PersonA) wasn't saying that it's his fault why PersonB lives in poverty. These are all street children who don't know much about life. It's not their fault why they were born poor. Have you been to squatter area for at least 8 hours? If not, you don't know what you are saying. These people lack opportunities in life, and they really don't want to stay and live there. It's just that they don't have a choice. IMO.

You're judgmental bro. Your speak like someone who is even worst that them.

So what can you expect? They're having a game of chance.

When I watched this video It made me think one thing. Did I do something? then I answered myself NOTHING why? cause every time I saw this children in the streets I just ignore them. I am one of the people in this society who remained SILENT. I felt guilty about it. I just hope and prayed that this kind of sickness that we are experiencing in our society would someday change.

The only way that I can do is to pray for them.
I realized that I should change this kind of attitude who always remained silent and I should also be thankful to God for all the blessing he has given me. For a new day he has given me. I should value this day by changing my "bad attitudes" and to take a chance to change our society even in our my own little ways.

  9. to anonymous, you said that the author criticize himself.. well , it's his own way of reflecting about the video.. and, you just react but you did not reflect.. if we always tell ourselves that it's the poor who has the fault why he is on that situation then what good did you bring them? i believe that every human being has an equal worth and dignity but because of some deviant situations we cannot judge them according to what you shallowly sees. instead you should go deeper than what your eyes see.. use your heart and step on the shoes of those children. place yourself on their own condition. they are the true victims here.. they are the oppressed people..they need help.. they need somebody who will help them in presenting their situation on the state...
